During this past New Years holiday season, I was privileged to spend time with friends whom I call family in this beautiful place called Colorado. My time was spent making memories of all sorts; whether it be through casual conversation during a friendly game of cards, or enjoying the fluidity of skis flowing over freshly fallen powder. But this trip wasn’t just about enjoying myself during my frivoulous yet enjoyable endeavors. It was also a time where I was reacquainted with the fact that I have been blessed beyond all measure. I have truly been given one of the greatest gifts anyone can receive through these friendships. Love and Compassion. Something I wouldn’t trade for the world. Two specific families have given me such love and compassion during my stay in Colorado that deserve recognition.
First, The Miller family has been so kind to allow hordes of people whom they both know well and have merely been introduced, to invade their humble home for New Years celebrations for years on end. It astonishes me every time I see Mrs. Miller and how excited she gets to see a friendly face, when in reality, she might not know them on a very personal level, like in my case and many others I’m sure (this is true of all the Miller Family Members). Keep loving on people they way that you are, Miller family, and the Lord will continue to bless you.
Last but certainly not least, The Wanberg Family. You have always shown me grace and hospitality to which I do not understand. Specifically, because of this trip, where I decided to go skiing on a whim. Long story short, you lent me all the gear I asked for without hesitation and I lost some of it not by neglect, but by a stroke of bad luck. Regardless of any of these facts, you reassured me to not worry about any of it, and continue to leave an open invitation into your home and lives, should I ever need it.
We should all keep count of our blessings, and be not blind to those we may not see. For they are not ours to keep, but merely given out of love, which we do not deserve…
